The National Day of Reason – State Capitol Thursday, May 2, 2019 8:30 AMMinnesota State CapitolSaint Paul, MN The National Day of Reason honors the principles of secular government and separation of religion and state that have guided our country since its founding. We observe this day to remind lawmakers that public policy should be based on reason, science, and evidence to promote the general welfare. This year, three Minnesota humanist groups have united to sponsor an event at the State Capitol to urge lawmakers to uphold our secular government, without favoring one religion over another or the religious over the nonreligious, as our Constitution mandates. The event will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Thursday, May 2, inthe Vault at the Capitol. Continental breakfast will be served. Speakers will include humanist leaders, legislators, and David Schultz, professor of political science at Hamline University. Let’s carpool to this event. We will plan to depart from the St. Cloud Northstar Link Commuter Bus Park & Ride; located at 1919 Lincoln Ave SE., St. Cloud, MN; at 7:00am. Notice: There are usually many more attendees at an event than there are people who RSVP on Meetup.
