Lee Salisbury will be talking at the Whitney Senior Center on Tuesday Sept. 15th from 9:30 to 11:30 AM. It is free and open to the public. I hope you will be able to attend.
For those who don't know Lee, he is a former evangelist minister turned atheist. He is active in MN Atheists, up until recently wrote a column on atheism and atheists for the Stillwater paper and started several Critical Thinking Clubs around the TC area. He is a director of the Critical Thinking Clubs of MN.
He gave a presentation on his journey from minister to atheist to the Humanities group at the Whitney Sr. Center 3 years ago. It was, if not the best attended, one of the best attended meeting we've had. There was a spirited discussion and a lively question and answer period after his presentation.
Everyone is invited.
Lee Salisbury's presentation:
Those "Godless Atheists and Why They Matter" by Lee Salisbury, former Christian minister.
In spite of centuries of false and malicious propaganda by the religious community, it is the "reprobate godless atheists" in society who constitute many of western civilization's most admired achievers and contributors. The religious community would be well advised to consider why it is that as in Europe, America's fastest growing segment of its population is non-religious, agnostic and atheist rejecting traditional Christian faith as irrelevant.
