I'm as big a public radio fan as they come, and have been a sustaining member of MPR for years, but I'm really getting tired of biased religous coverage, even from NPR. Barbara Bradley Hagerty, religion writer, recently wrote an article on the "rift" between atheist factions. This raised the ire of many atheists, as 1) we are not dogmatically alike, and 2) atheists are not something Haggerty is qualified to write about considering her obvious and documented evangelical motives.

The real story, to me, is the comment stream. At the moment, there are over 500 comments. A remarkable number are from eloquent, knowledgable atheists. The comment rating system would seem to favor the atheist position as well. I'm happy to see that so many of us are speaking out in a rational, generally respectful manner to counter the misinformation and intentional ignorance displayed by many of the religious in the thread.

I highly recommend reading the thread, as it covers many topics from the definition of atheism to the legitimacy of evolution. It's encouraging and inspiring.
